The GCA will hold its first member’s meeting on 9/24 – 9/25/16 at the CMP’s Talladega Marksmanship Park. The board of directors discussed a meeting at the last GCA convention and the CMP graciously offered to host it. Our by-laws call for an annual members meeting, so we thought something less than a convention but more than just a meeting would be in order. There will be no planned activities or displays other than the shooting matches and no CMP sales event.

The current plans involve three matches and a meeting following the last match on Saturday. The meeting will take place at the marksmanship park. There will be a John C. Garand Match on Saturday morning followed by a “mini-Palma” match fired on the 100 yard range with .22 rifles mounting scopes or iron sights and a sling. You will be able to shoot off a bag or a bipod, but that will be considered a separate category. Board member Don Kemps runs these matches at his home range and says they are a blast. The mini-Palma will be fired on paper targets at 100 yards. Bring your spotting scope or have one available to use.

Any members who aren’t planning to shoot are welcome to come and watch and participate in the meeting. Sunday morning, a Vintage Sniper** match will be held.
Members wishing to shoot in the matches can register here.

Just Announced @ 8/2/16!
The CMP will hold an Excellence in Competition (EIC) match on Sunday following the Vintage Sniper Match. All GCA members are invited to participate and encouraged to stay if they are interested. Register on the CMP web page:  https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.php?do=match&task=edit&match=14588

The only cost to the membership for this event will be the match fees paid to the CMP. This is the first time we have tried this, so it will be interesting to see how it is received. If there is enough participation, we will attempt to continue it at various venues. Remember, you must register on the CMP site for the matches. No further registration with the GCA is necessary.

** If you are interested in shooting in the Vintage Sniper match but don’t have a partner, contact the GCA office at 816-471-2005 or email (info@nullthegca.org). We will try to provide an opportunity for shooters without a teammate to connect with each other.
